I work with clients in person, or over Skype, for a 50 minute session.
Sessions are usually arranged weekly or fortnightly at the same time, unless otherwise specified.
When we first meet we will discuss the issues you want to focus on and for how long. I offer both brief (usually around six to fifteen sessions) and longer term work. We will regularly review how the work is progressing.
My practice is based in Portchester, Hampshire.
It is situated within a ten minute walk from Portchester station and within easy reach of the M27 and A27, making it convenient to get to from Fareham, Portsmouth, Havant, Chichester and the surrounding area.
Other Locations: In some circumstances,
I am happy to meet in alternative quiet places that are mutually convenient, or in your place of work.
I also offer mentoring over Skype and will let you know my Skype ID when we arrange to meet. It may be helpful to keep in mind the following guidelines:
i) Please take enough time before the session to check your internet connection and address any technical issues.
ii) Where possible please use a laptop or desktop computer, in preference to a phone.
iii) It is important to choose a quiet space in which to have the session, where there won't be any interruptions, and please keep phones on silent.
iv) Should we lose connection during the session, please call me on my mobile so that we can agree a way to ensure you get the most out of our time together in the face of any technical interruption.
I charge £45 per session. Fees are either paid in cash or cheque at the start of the session, or 24 hours in advance by BACS.
Cancellations and Missed Sessions:
If you are unable to attend a session, please let me know as soon as possible. I require at least 24 hours notice, based on the time of our session, when cancelling. The full session fee is payable when less than 24 hours notice is given, or the session is missed without giving notice. I will give as much advance notice as possible if I need to cancel any of our sessions.
The sessions are confidential, so what is said in them remains between us. To ensure the quality of my practice, I discuss my work in supervision, and this context is bound by the same standards of confidentiality.
Limits to confidentiality apply in circumstances where there is a risk of harm to yourself or others, or where you disclose criminal activity. I will then discuss with you, as far as possible, what action I plan to take.
Any notes that I write during the session are for my own use and will be written in a way so that you are not able to be identified. After the session, brief notes are made in hard copy and stored securely in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) 2018. These notes are kept for legal purposes for 6 years after your last session, after which they are shredded.
I store client's contact information for the purposes of our work together in line with the General Data Protection Regulation 2018. I remove your contact information from my password protected computer and password protected work mobile phone one month after our last session.
Feedback and Professional Conduct:
Feedback is very useful and welcome, so please feel free to give it to me at any point. I will regularly check in with you about what is working for you in our sessions and if there is anything you would like to be done differently.
If you have any problems or concerns about the mentoring relationship please raise these with me in the first instance. However, if you would feel more comfortable discussing them with someone else, please contact the BACP's 'Ask Kathleen' service https://www.bacp.co.uk/about-therapy/ask-kathleen/ which provides confidential guidance and information if you are concerned about my professional practice.
